A man has been found dead in suspicious circumstances in a tenement close in Glasgow.
Police said his body was discovered in the city’s east end in the early hours of Wednesday.
He has not yet been identified and detectives are treating the death in the Ruchazie area as suspicious.
Emergency services were called out to the property in Blairlogie Street at around 4.50am after receiving reports of a body found in a close.
Police said the man, who was believed to be around 50 years old, had "sustained serious injuries" before his death. A post mortem examination will be carried out in due course.
Detective Inspector Laura Thomson, of Shettleston CID, said: "It is only a matter of hours since his body was found and our enquiries are at a very early stage. At this time, our priority is to identify this man and we are appealing for help. The only description so far is that he is aged approximately 50 years old heavy built with short greying hair and was wearing a black long sleeved top, blue jeans and grey and orange trainers.
"It is imperative that we speak to anyone who was in the area of Blairlogie Street last night and saw or heard any sort of disturbance to get in touch. As this enquiry progresses I may be able to provide a further description of the man and narrow down the timeframe but at the moment would appeal to anyone who was at or near Blairlogie Street any time yesterday evening or the early hours of this morning to come forward."
Any person who thinks they may know who this man is or has any information about what happened to him is asked to call the CID at Shettleston on 0141 532 4858.
