More than 160 capsules of a potentially lethal drug have been stolen from a car in Montrose.

The capsules of painkiller Tramadol were taken from a black Ford Fiesta on Wednesday at around 10.50am.

Tayside Police said the car was parked and unattended at Glenesk Avenue in the town.

A spokesman for the force said: "We are concerned as Tramadol can cause extreme drowsiness, shallow breathing, muscle weakness, slow heartbeat, cold or clammy skin, fainting or seizures and a Tramadol overdose can be fatal."

The strength of the 168 capsules taken is not known.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Tayside Police on 0300 111 2222 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
