Former rugby captain Chris Paterson to be given honorary degree

Former Scotland rugby captain Chris Paterson is to receive an honorary degree.

Paterson, who retired from the game in May, will be given an Honorary Doctorate of Science from Edinburgh Napier University on Thursday.

The rugby star holds the record for the most Scotland caps at 109 appearances for the national team.

Also be honoured by the university is chef Tom Kitchin who will receive an Honorary Doctorate of Arts on Wednesday.

Kitchin runs Leith restaurant The Kitchin and was awarded a Michelin star aged just 29.

Around 2000 students at the university are due to graduate at ceremonies being held this week.
