Motorist remains in critical condition after serious two-vehicle crash

A motorist remains in a critical condition in hospital after being involved in a serious two-vehicle crash in Fife.

The 40-year-old male was air lifted to Ninewells hospital in Dundee with injuries described by police as serious after his green Peugeot 206 was involved in a head-on crash on the A92.

An air ambulance and other emergency crews were sent to the scene of the accident which occurred at a turn-off between Ladybank and Freuchie at around 12.10pm on Monday.

A 65-year-old woman passenger in a grey Land Rover was taken to Victoria hospital in Kirkcaldy with minor injuries. The man driver was uninjured.

A spokesman for Fife Constabulary said the road was closed between Ladybank and Freuchie for several hours while traffic was diverted before reopening shortly after 8pm.

A spokesman for the Scottish Ambulance Service said a doctor and trauma team had also been sent from Ninewells hospital as well as the air ambulance and two vehicles.
