Hundreds of medals and goody bags were stolen from a van before the Race for Life event in Dundee.
The van was targeted at around 5am on Sunday when it was parked at Camperdown Park in the city.
It is understood 700 medals were taken.
Around 2400 women and girls took part in the Dundee event raising thousands of pounds for charity.
Cancer Research UK has hailed the event as a success despite the theft. Event manager Carolyn Johnston added that there were enough supplies for everyone to get a medal and goody bag.
She said: "It’s terrible that goody bags destined as a thank you for the 2400 women who braved miserable weather conditions to raise money for Cancer Research UK were stolen. However, it was fortunate that we had enough of a supply for everyone who took part in Race for Life in Dundee and so no one missed out."
A spokeswoman for Tayside Police said the force was investigating.
