Man is critically injured after stabbing in Paisley store

A shop worker is critically ill after being stabbed in a Paisley grocers.

The 48-year-old man was attacked just after 5pm on Friday, police said.

Detectives said it was an unprovoked attack.

The man was working in Sunshine Licensed Grocers on Paisley's Green Road when he was attacked, according to Strathclyde Police.

He was taken to the Royal Alexandra Hospital for treatment. On Saturday, staff their described his condition as critical.

Detective chief inspector Duncan Sloan said: "At this time, we are trying to establish a motive for this seemingly unprovoked attack. All lines of enquiry will be pursued, including robbery.

"I would appeal to anyone who was in the vicinity of Sunshine Licensed Grocers late yesterday afternoon and saw anyone hanging about outside the shop or behaving in a suspicious manner to come forward.

"There is no description available of the suspect however it is possible that he may have bloodstaining on his clothing."
