Two men who died in A9 collision between van and bus named

A9 crash: The collision happened on Friday at 3.45pm near Newtonmore.

Two men who died in a road crash between their van and a bus have been named.

Mark McFarlane, 38, and Barry Murray, 28, were driving on the A9 at Ralia, near Newtonmore in the Highlands when they collided with the bus on Friday afternoon.

The two men, both painters and decorators, were form the Glasgow area.

The bus was transporting 47 concert-goers from Edinburgh to the RockNess music festival in the Highlands.

Eleven people were taken to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness following the crash for treatment to a range of injuries. Five were admitted with minor injuries and a further six were discharged.

The female bus driver, who is 26 and from Edinburgh, was airlifted to the Southern General Hospital in Glasgow with serious injuries after she became trapped in the vehicle.
