Scottish tennis ace Andy Murray has hinted that he wants to use some of the psychological tactics that used to be employed by John McEnroe to boost his chances of winning Wimbledon.
The 22-year-old told channelbee.com that "cricket-style sledging" and "psychological warfare" would help to liven up matches.
Murray said: "McEnroe said that he used it as a sort of tactic.
"I wish there was more of it going on, it makes it more interesting to watch. There is quite a lot of psychology in it but rarely will you see guys sledging each other across the net."
Andy said that these tactics were used successful by World No.1 Nadal to gain "the upper hand" over opponents.
He explained: "It's just little things, like Nadal always likes to cross the net second. So he waits.
Andy claimed that other players at Wimbledon often played "mind games" to gain an edge on the court.
He said: "When players hit an ace or a good shot they want to use the same ball for the next point.
"So sometimes their opponent will hold it and wait until the time is up before they throw it back."
