A9 crash: The female bus driver remains in hospital.

Twelve people were taken to hospital following a collision between a van and a bus on the A9.

The incident took place at Ralia, near Newtonmore in the Highlands, at around 3.45pm on Friday.

The driver and passenger of the van died as a result of the collision with the bus which was taking concert-goers to the RockNess music festival. Both men were from Glasgow and were 28 and 38 years of age.

Eleven people were taken to Raigmore Hospital following the crash, five of whom were admitted and a further six discharged.

The female driver of the bus, which was carrying 47 passengers from Edinburgh to the concert, was airlifted to the Southern General Hospital.

Her condition was initially listed as serious but police confirmed she has since improved. She is 26 years of age and from Edinburgh.

A spokesperson for Northern Constabulary said the names of the deceased would not be released until next of kin were informed.
