Protesters have scaled a crane in Glasgow to call for nuclear disarmament.
Three people can be seen on the platform from ground level and a banner has been unfurled.
The banner reads: “Nuclear disarmament. If not now, when?”
Two Strathclyde Police vehicles are visible at the foot of the structure. Officers were alerted to the incident at 6.50am on Saturday.
The Clydeport crane, located at Finnieston in Glasgow, is adjacent to the new Hydro facility, which is currently under construction.
Britain’s nuclear deterrent is located at Her Majesty's Naval Base Clyde at Faslane, which is a site for protests by those opposed to nuclear weapons. However, the nuclear deterrent is an issue reserved to the UK Government and is not legislated by the Scottish Parliament.
A police spokeswoman confirmed officers were in attendance at the scene and monitoring the situation. She added that the police were required to “facilitate the right to peaceful protest” but would re-evaluate the situation if the demonstrators began to pose a threat to themselves or the general public.
