A Scots fashion brand has created a new Robert Burns tartan to help raise funds for the Bard's new Birthplace Museum.
Johnstons of Elgin said on Sunday that it will make a £1 donation to the Robert Burns Birthplace Museum for every item of the new tartan sold.
The National Trust for Scotland is attempting to raise the final £3.8million for the £21million museum in Alloway, Ayrshire.
Due for completion in summer of 2010, the Robert Burns Birthplace Museum in Alloway will house more than 5,000 items from the most important Burns collection in the world and will continue to spread the word about Burns, his life and work, educating and inspiring visitors for generations to come.
The new tartan, pictured above, has been woven into scarves and travel rugs.
David McKinnon, the National Trust for Scotland Corporate Business Development Manager, said: "Johnstons of Elgin is an iconic Scottish brand with a fantastic heritage and cutting-edge fashion focus, so naturally we're delighted that they've stepped forward to help contribute towards the new museum in such an inspiring way."
Alastair Macdonald, of Johnstons of Elgin, added: "A great deal of consideration was given to the design process, which is reflected in the colours, pattern and fabrics used.
"Each garment truly represents a little piece of Scottish history whilst keeping a fashion-forward focus on this season’s trends.
"The pure and natural raw materials that we source from around the world provide a durable but soft handle that will last the test of time, much like Robert Burns' very own legacy."
