A 82-year-old man who died in a crash between a car and a lorry on a rural road has been named as Ian Morrison.
Mr Morrison, 82, a former education adviser for Tayside, had lived in Forfar.
The accident happened on the Forfar to Bowriefauld Road, at Wester Lownie Farm, in Angus at about 3.30pm on Wednesday.
Mr Morrison was driving his Mercedes car when it crashed with a Volvo lorry.
He had formerly worked as assistant rector at Brechin High School.
He had been delivering church newsletters when the accident happened and was well-known as a senior church elder with Dunnichen, Letham and Kirkden parish.
A statement from Tayside Police said: "His family are understandably upset by their sudden loss and have said that he will be greatly missed. They do not wish to make any further comments and have requested that their privacy is respected at this difficult time.
"Inquiries into the full set of circumstances are continuing and as with all sudden deaths a report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal."
As a result of the crash, the road was closed while emergency services and crash investigators worked at the scene.
