A murder investigation has been launched into the death of a man following a fight outside a pub.

The 29-year-old died in Ninewells Hospital, Dundee, after an assault outside the Maltman pub on Mains Road in the city.

Police were contacted by the ambulance service at about 11pm on Friday.

The pub and part of the road were closed and are being treated as crime scenes.
