A woman has died and two others are in hospital following a collision between two cars.
Emergency services were called to the A713 near Carsfad Loch in Carsphairn, Dumfries and Galloway, at about 5.50pm on Friday.
Police said a woman was pronounced dead at the scene, and two others were taken to Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary.
The crash involved a blue Renault Scenic and a silver Suzuki Grand Vitara.
The road was closed while police cleared the wreckage and accident investigators inspected the scene.
