A mother killed her girlfriend after being taunted for being a "mummy's girl".
Shazia Johnston, 25, stabbed Lisa Ann Quigley, 30, through the heart at her home in Kirkcaldy, Fife, last October.
The High Court in Glasgow was told the incident happened during a row between the couple while Johnston was bathing her son.
During her trial, Johnston said she had not intended to kill Miss Quigley, but acted to defend herself and her toddler son after her girlfriend wielded a knife at them.
Johnston was originally charged with murder but on Thursday she was found guilty of culpable homicide.
The jury heard the couple had a turbulent relationship and Miss Quigley thought Johnston was cheating on her with a friend’s brother.
The court heard that Miss Quigley began shouting at Johnston while she was bathing the boy on October 11. When Johnston asked her to leave, Miss Quigley replied: "You going to get your mummy to help? You are a mummy's girl."
Johnston went into the living room to find her girlfriend "swirling" a knife in her hand. Miss Quigley then grabbed her by the hair and poked the blade towards her.
Johnston, who was holding her son, told the court she was "really scared" and grabbed another knife that was nearby.
She lashed out at Miss Quigley, who fell onto a couch. Miss Quigley got back up and Johnston stabbed her with the knife in an attempt to defend herself.
The killer then ran out of the flat with her son.
Paramedics found Miss Quigley "crying for help" by paramedics but later died.
During the trial, Johnston said she loved Miss Quigley and had not meant to kill her.
She said: "I only stabbed her because I thought that she was going to stab me. Everything happened in a split second."
Johnston will be sentenced next month.
