Disney cuts out the central belt in map of Scotland promoting Brave holiday

With shots of the Highlands drenched in sunlight, the trailer for a new Brave-inspired holiday shows Scotland at its most beautiful.

But it seems Disney could do with some geography lessons as its map of the country leaves out most of the central belt.

The holiday branch of the company, Adventures by Disney, will start running VIP trips around Scotland next year to tie in with their animation Brave.

To encourage guests, they have shot a video showing exactly what participants will get for their money.

At the start of the film, a map of Scotland is brought up but the border ends at Fort William and Stirling. Fife, Glasgow, Edinburgh and the Borders have been left out of the country.

The company is advertising the Scotland Adventure to capitalise off the back of their animation Brave.

Guests will visit Edinburgh Castle and dine at the historic site, ride Highland ponies at Rothiemurchus Estate, taking part in archery at Glamis Castle, and canoe on Loch Ness.

At around £3000 per person, the nine-day holiday promises to let guests experience the country in style.

VisitScotland said the map highlights the parts of the country which the trip visits.

A spokesman said: "The map within the video clearly highlights the area in which the tour will take place."

The Disney Pixar film Brave is set in the Highlands and stars Billy Connolly and Robbie Coltrane. It tells the tale of Merida, skilled archer and daughter of King Fergus and Queen Elinor. Determined to carve her own path in life, she defies an age-old custom sacred to the lords of Scotland and unleashes chaos and fury in the family.

VisitScotland and Disney will work together to create a global marketing campaign around the animated adventure, including joint TV and cinema advertising across the UK, North America and Europe, digital marketing and events including premieres and screenings.
