The Scottish National Party has launched its youth manifesto online in a bid to reach out to young voters ahead of the European election.
In a move they termed an “innovative step”, the party launched their manifesto through the social networking sites Facebook and Bebo.
The manifesto was designed by the SNP's youth and student organisations - the Federation of Student Nationalists and Young Scots for Independence.
It calls on young Scots to vote for job opportunities in new green industries and for a "real voice" on international issues, calling for an end to nuclear weapons and supporting genuine international development.
SNP MEP Alyn Smith, Scotland's youngest MEP at 35, said: "Only the SNP speak for young Scots in Europe and by going online we want to speak to as many young Scots as we can.
"The internet is no substitute for face-to-face contact but Facebook offers voters a real opportunity from Shetland to Selkirk to engage with SNP candidates wherever we may be."
He said the party is standing for jobs and recovery in the forthcoming election.
"We are the only party that will give Scotland's young people a strong voice in Europe's economic future with our commitment to 16,000 jobs in green energy over the next ten years," he said.
He added "Young people should have a strong voice in Europe and the SNP is the only party to offer that voice.
"That is why the SNP is committed to votes for those over 16 years old and our MEPs will campaign for this in the European Parliament."
