Mr Griffiths, who announced this week that he would be standing down at the General Election, was overpaid by a total of £4,005.84 for mortgage interest (£464.51 in 2004-05; £961.38 in 2005-06; and £2,579.95 in 2006-07).
Mr Griffiths' mortgage lender has acknowledged that the interest calculations they provided to the MP, and were used as the basis of his claims, contained errors.
The mortgage lender is therefore arranging to reimburse the House of Commons directly for this element, which has yet to be determined.
Mr Griffiths was asked to pay back £4,005.84 and has already done so.
