A teenager has died after the car he was driving collided with a van in Aberdeen.
The accident happened at 7.45am on Saturday on Beach Esplanade, which runs by the North Sea.
The 18-year-old was driving his red Fiat Punto when it collided with a red Ford Transit van being driven by a 30-year-old man.
The teenager was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary where he later died from his injuries.
The 30-year-old man sustained minor injuries.
Officers from Grampian Police closed the road for four hours to conduct an investigation into the crash. The road has since re-opened.
Sergeant Rob Warnock of the force’s Road Policing Department said: “Our enquiries are at an early stage and we are keeping an open mind. I appeal for anyone who may have witnessed the collision to come forward irrespective of how insignificant they may think their information is.”
