Investigations continue into house fire which left one woman dead

Investigations continue into a house fire which left one woman dead in Aberdeenshire at the weekend.

The resident, named locally as Pat Bedford, died at the scene of the blaze at Cruden Bay on Sunday morning.

Nearly 30 firefighters attended the fire at a house on Blackcraig Road at around 10.50am.

Four fire engines, an incident support vehicle and a fire investigation unit were all stationed outside the detached property.

Crew used a hose reel jet, four breathing apparatus and a pressure fan to extinguish the blaze.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. It is thought that her young daughter was away staying with relatives at the time of the fire.

A joint investigation has now been launched by Grampian Police and Grampian Fire & Rescue Service.
