A motorist has died following a single-vehicle road accident in Aberdeenshire.

Emergency services were called to the Maryculter Bridge on the South Deeside Road at around 5.45am on Sunday.

Grampian Police said the car may have hit a wall before bursting into flames.

Fire crews also attended the crash, which happened at the junction with the B979 south of Peterculter.
