Historic mansion house with 16 bathrooms put on market for £1m

Dunecht House: In the heart of Aberdeenshire.

A historic Aberdeenshire mansion house has been put on the market for £1m.

Dunecht House boasts 24 bedrooms, 16 bathrooms and its own private chapel.

The mansion, on Dunecht Estate, has been put up for sale jointly by Savills and CKD Kennedy Macpherson, for offers over £1m.

Also included in the A-listed property is a private chapel, library, a two-bedroom housekeeper's flat and 13-acres of land.

The property was built in 1820 for William Forbes, whose family had owned Dunecht Estate since the 15th century.

Charles Pearson, owner of Dunecht Estates, said: "Dunecht House is a magnificent building and is suitable for uses ranging from an outstanding residence to commercial use such as a hotel or conference centre.

"Our family home in Aberdeenshire has been in Strathdon for some years now. Dunecht House cannot remain unoccupied indefinitely and deserves to have a new owner who can realise its potential.

"The house is being offered for sale with its immediate garden grounds and the adjacent Dunecht House Golf Course is not included.

"The proposed sale of the House will not affect jobs or tenants and Dunecht Estates will continue to be run separately as a progressive rural business. We believe that a successful sale of Dunecht House may bring significant benefits to the local area and its economy."
