General manager on trial accused of embezzling £40,000 from city bar

A man has gone on trial accused of embezzling £40,000 from an Aberdeen bar while working as general manager.

Craig Douglas is alleged to have taken the money over a one-year period while working at Enigma in the city centre.

The 33-year-old, of Merkland Lane, Aberdeen, is charged with embezzling £40,565 from the bar between January 23, 2008 and January 25, 2009.

The trial against Douglas began at Aberdeen Sheriff Court on Thursday.

He denies the charge against him.
