Five children charged with string of offences including fire-raising

Police operation: Thank public for help apprehending youngsters.

Five children have been charged over a crime spree including suspicious fires and thefts.

A 13-year-old girl and four boys - three aged 14 and one aged 15 - are accused of being involved in 14 offences in Keith over April.

Offences include a wheelie bin and petrol canister being set alight and vandalisms to windows.

Inspector Louise Blakelock said: "A small group of youths committed these offences, however these incidents have an impact on the whole community and the instances of fireraising were of particular concern, due to the potential for significant damage to property or indeed injury.

"I am delighted that information provided by the public coupled with the hard work and determination of the officers involved in this enquiry, resulted in the detection of the majority of the anti social behaviour crime occurring in Keith during April."

The children will now be referred to the children's reporter.
