Robert Gordon University stormed to victory in the Aberdeen Asset Management Universities’ Boat Race.
Aberdeen University had gone into the race looking for victory for the 15th time but it was RGU who instead picked up only their third win in the annual event.
RGU led from the start to win the 3km race along the River Dee by four lengths.
Team president Ruth Wright said: “I’m absolutely ecstatic. We knew we had it right from the start. It was just a case of keeping it relaxed. It’s just brilliant and I couldn’t be happier. It was a perfect race for us. We always knew we had it in us to win by a good distance.”
Aberdeen University team president Katie McPherson added: “I’m disappointed but still very proud of the crew. They worked extremely hard and had an excellent race. RGU were very strong but the whole of Aberdeen University are very proud of the crew.”
