A woman had to be cut free from the wreckage of a car following an early morning crash on an Aberdeenshire road.
Emergency services were called to the scene on the B966 at Fordoun, near Laurencekirk, at around 6.50am on Friday.
It is understood a 45-year-old woman suffered back injuries but her condition is not thought to be serious.
A police spokesman said: "A silver Renault Megane and a black Vauxhall Corsa collided.
"A female is being treated for suspected back injuries.
"A council gritter is now at the scene treating the road which we understand is icy."
A spokesman for the Grampian Fire and Rescue Service said: "Two fire engines attended at the scene – one from Inverbervie and one from Laurencekirk.
"One person was trapped at the scene and was freed using cutting gear before being taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary by ambulance."
