Two taken to hospital after four-vehicle crash involving a tractor and lorry

Two people have been taken to hospital after being freed from their vehicles in an accident involving a tractor and an articulated lorry.

The four-vehicle crash, also involving a van and a car, happened on the A947 Oldmeldrum to Fyvie Road at around 1.10pm on Wednesday.

The road was still blocked in both directions at 3.40pm just north of Oldmeldrum as emergency services attend the scene.

A man, believed to be in his 60s, was taken by ambulance to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary with chest and arm injuries.

An ambulance spokesman said a second person was on their way to hospital.

A Grampian Fire and Rescue spokeswoman said three engines, two from Inverurie and one from Oldmeldrum, were on their way to the scene.

The two injured people were trapped in their vehicles and had to be freed by fire crew.
