Robert Gordon University sets tuition fees for students from the rest of the UK

Robert Gordon University has become the latest university to set increased tuition fees for students from England and the rest of the UK.

The university’s board of governors approved a tiered approach with three bands of undergraduate fees for different courses on Friday.

The university said the fees reflect the cost of delivering the courses.

The cheapest band is for the university’s business, management and social science courses at £5000 per year.

A master of pharmacy degree are the most expensive at £8500 per year.

Art and design, architecture and built environment, computing, engineering and health and science courses have been set at £6500.

Professor Ferdinand von Prondzynski, principal and vice-chancellor of Robert Gordon University, said: “In setting our bands we believe we have developed a framework that is both fair and pragmatic.

“By basing our charges on the cost of delivering our degrees, we are ensuring that we do not make profit from students who wish to study at RGU, while ensuring their study is not subsidised from revenues received to support Scottish and EU students. We believe that under the proposed structure, the university’s position is fair and equitable to all UK students.”

Last month Aberdeen University became the first university to set increased tuition fees for students from England the rest of the UK.  The university opted to set their fees at £9000 per year in line with the limit set in England.
