A historic cinema in Aberdeen which was under-threat has been saved.
The Belmont Picturehouse will be leased to City Screen Ltd for the next ten years as of the end of May.
The future was looking grim after negotiations between Aberdeen City Council and their preferred bidder Centre for the Moving Image fell through.
However this positive news is set to please the 4,500 people who signed a petition demanding that Aberdeen City Council saved the independent cinema from being shutting down.
The contracts for the agreement are being finalised.
The Belmont Picturehouse is famed for showing a variety of independent and foreign films which are screened nowhere else in the city.
