Pensioner sexually abused two young children in the 1960s

An 86-year-old man has been found guilty of sexually abusing two young children.

William Watson was convicted of four charges of using lewd, indecent and libidinous practices and behaviour towards the girls following a four day trial on Thursday.

The pensioner began abusing the girls in the 1960s and the sexual offences continued for several years.

Watson, of Aberdeen, also faced three charges of rape but the jury found the charges not proven at the High Court in Aberdeen.

Sentence was deferred for background reports until next month.
