Airplane: The pilots reported the laser attacks on Tuesday.

Two pilots had laser pens shone at them as they landed at Aberdeen Airport.

They alerted air traffic control on Tuesday night as the lasers were directed at their cockpits.

The aircraft were targeted as they came in to land between 9pm and 9.30pm.

Grampian Police are now carrying out inquiries to try and track down those responsible.

A spokesman said: "We are making inquiries into two incidents which took place between 9pm and 9.30pm on Tuesday February 5, when it was reported to us by air traffic control in Aberdeen that pilots had reported laser lighting being used as they made their approach to land."

Last month a 13-year-old boy was charged by police in connection with reports of laser pens being shone at aircraft in Fife.

He was charged under the Air Navigation Act in relation to three incidents involving planes flying in and out of Edinburgh Airport last year.
