Infant's 'unexplained' death in Aberdeen investigated by police

The death of an infant in Aberdeen is being treated as “unexplained”.

Officers were called to an address in the George Street area of Aberdeen around 4.30pm on Wednesday.

The child was admitted to hospital at around 5pm but later died.

Detective inspector Graeme Mackie, who is leading the enquiry, said: "Enquiries into the death are at a very early stage.

“As is normal in such circumstances a post mortem will be carried out and a report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal."

Police officers remained outside the property until around 8.30pm on Wednesday.
