A woman has died following a two-vehicle accident on a road near Aberdeen beach.

The incident happened around 2.30pm on Monday on the Beach Esplanade.

A Scottish Ambulance Service spokesman said two men had been rushed to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary following the accident.

A Grampian Police spokesman later confirmed a woman had died at the scene.

She said: “Grampian Police can confirm that one person has died following a two-vehicle road traffic collision on the Beach Esplanade. The deceased is a female.

“The road will remain closed between the Shell garage and Beach Ballroom while collision investigation is ongoing. This is expected to take some time.

“There is no further information available at this time.”
