A rescue operation is under way after reports three people have been stranded by the tide off the north-east coast.
Both the Fraserburgh and Macduff RNLI boats and Rescue 137 from RAF Lossiemouth were scrambled after a member of the public said they had been cut off by the tide at 3.25pm on Monday.
A spokesman for the coastguard said: “We received reports of three people cut off by the tide west of Pennan.
“We think we have found the people [safe and well] and are trying to establish if it was them that were in trouble.
“We are continuing to search the area while we do that.”
