Reports of a boat on fire in the North Sea have turned out to be no more than heavy fumes from an exhaust pipe.
The coastguard launched the RNLI boat from Buckie after receiving reports from members of the public.
The lifeboat was launched at around 10.30am on Monday.
A spokesman for the coastguard said: “We received several 999 calls reporting a vessel on fire off Burghead.
“The members of the public did the right thing calling 999, that is what we encourage.”
