An Aberdeen primary school teacher has become the second in Scotland to be struck off for incompetence.
Christine Alexander taught pupils to read with the wrong level of book and sometimes with no book at all.
Ms Alexander admitted charges of serious professional incompetence at a hearing.
She was accused of hindering her pupils’ education by failing to prepare lesson plans or monitor how the children were progressing.
She was removed from the teaching register following a ruling by the General Teaching Council for Scotland (GTCS)
The sub-committee ruled that the evidence against Ms Alexander demonstrated a “serious departure from the baseline standard” expected of a registered teacher.
The case comes as it was confirmed that the GTCS will become separate from the Scottish government.
