A man was treated in hospital following an “unprovoked” attack at the weekend.
The 23-year-old victim was assaulted on Shiprow, Aberdeen, at around 1am on Sunday when the area was busy with revellers.
Police said the man was punched and kicked in the face by his attacker and are appealing for witnesses.
A Grampian Police spokesman said: “A 23-year-old-male was assaulted by another male and was punched and kicked to the face. The victim received hospital treatment for a facial injury sustained as a result of the assault.
“The assailant is described as being a white male in his 20s, medium build with short dark hair, wearing a grey suit jacket, checked shirt and dark jeans.”
Investigating Officer Constable John Richardson added: "This was a completely unprovoked attack and I would urge anyone with information to contact us immediately."
