Rail travel has been disrupted after a train struck a pheasant, leaving 132 passengers stranded.

The collision caused an air leak aboard the Inverness to Aberdeen train near Kennethmont at around 6am on Wednesday.

A second train was brought alongside the damaged train on a section of double track to take its passengers to Huntly.

The disruption is expected to continue until around 10am.

A ScotRail spokesman said: “As this happened on a section of double track, we are bringing a train alongside and will transfer all passengers and take them to Huntly.

“We’ve arranged buses to help them complete their journeys.”
