A man has appeared in court charged with attempted robbery after a police appeal to unmask comic book hero Iron Man.

The owner of Roslin Stores, in the Urquhart Road area of Aberdeen, chased off a would-be robber in January who hid his face with the character's distinctive red and gold helmet.

At the time police claimed the robber presented a weapon at the shopkeeper before fleeing the scene empty handed.

On Wednesday Shaun Coutts appeared in private at Aberdeen Sheriff Court charged in connection with the alleged incident. Prosecutors claim that the 23-year-old is behind the attempted robbery.

He was also charged with two counts of the possession of drugs. Coutts, of Aberdeen, made no plea and no declaration and was released on bail.
