A woman has set up one of the world’s smallest coffee shop after her village’s local shop, restaurant and post office were closed.
Anne Geddes was so fed up with the lack of community facilities in the village of Fordyce, Banff she decided to take matters into her own hands.
Now she’s having the whole village round for tea after turning her own living room into a café.
She said: “At first the locals thought I was absolutely bonkers but once they saw the plans, they said, ‘go for it, because it will make such a difference to the village’.”
“It’s the heart of the village, and we have to keep these communities alive. The planning people from Banff were such a help, they’re really trying to encourage that kind of thing.
“I’m a very sociable person and I have four boys and two lovely step-children and I enjoy giving people something nice to eat.”
Only ten customers can squeeze in to Annie’s Gift Shop at a time. But those lucky enough to get a table are encouraged to make themselves very much at home.
