Tourism video showcasing the best of Aberdeen becomes internet sensation

A new film showcasing the very best of what Aberdeen and the surrounding area has to offer has received thousands of views online.

Tom's Aberdeen Adventure was commissioned by the city's airport and in the space of 100 seconds, takes the viewers on a tour of what the area has to offer.

The clip has already been viewed thousands of times on video sharing website YouTube.

Aberdeen Airport spokeswoman Sarah Campbell said: “We were aware that we wanted to make something that brought people here but also reminded the people that live here why this area is so great.

“On the film you see the main things that you would expect like Pittodrie, the centre of town and the whisky and castle trails but there are also the hidden gems from around the area too.”

Sarah said that trying to find some sunshine during the filming was one of the biggest struggles, but she added: “There is a mix of weather conditions. It shows that up here what we do is grin and bear it and if the weather is bad then we still get on with enjoying everything that is on our doorstep.”

Aberdeen actor Tom Stephen chalked up the miles during filming and grabbed the role without even having to audition.

He said: “I liked the concept and I sent my picture and acting CV and I was selected. There was no interview as they didn’t have to worry about my acting skills, it was just about how I looked. It was quite a shallow audition!”
