A number of "unique" items of sporting and TV memorabilia which were earmarked for a charity auction have been stolen from a house in Aberdeenshire.
The theft took place between June 13, and July 4, at a house in Rattery Road in Peterhead.
The items were being stored before being auctioned on behalf of a variety of charity groups, including a signed Arsenal football strip from 1996-97 and a Valhalla Golf flag signed by the Ryder Cup team.
A top worn by Coronation Star Jenny McAlpine on an episode of the show was also stolen, as well as a limited edition watercolour painting of Cruden Bay, and a book signed by professional golfer Peter Alliss.
Owner David Roy, who was in hospital at the time of the theft, said it was “terrible” that the items were stolen from his home as they were to be auctioned for Maggie's Cancer Care.
He said: “It’s terrible and I feel bad for all the people who are suffering and living with cancer as that is where the money from the charity auctions would have been going.
“I was in hospital at the time so it was not a nice thing to come back to. I just hope whoever did this is caught, or somebody who knows something comes forward to talk to the police."
Detective Constable Kevin MacDonald, who is investigating the incident, said: "This is a shameful theft of items which were aimed at raising money for charity. These are clearly very distinctive items so it's possible someone may have seen them either in someone's home or for sale somewhere.
"We are appealing for the community’s assistance in identifying those responsible and I would urge anyone who may have any information at all about this incident to contact us as soon as possible.”
Anybody with information regarding the incident can contact Grampian Police on 0845 600 5700 or anonymously at Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
