A large garden ornament of comic strip character Oor Wullie has been stolen from the garden of a sheltered housing complex.
The figure was taken between 8am on Saturday and 10am on Sunday from Davah Court, Inverurie, Aberdeenshire.
Investigating officer, PC Alex Ritchie, of Grampian Police said: "The item taken is quite distinctive, of considerable size and has been removed from a garden in a sheltered housing complex.
"It was of much sentimental value to the owner who is quite upset and would unfortunately be very difficult to replace. Had anyone been seen in possession of this item, I'm sure it would stick in the memory."
The adventures of dungaree-clad Wullie have been appearing in DC Thomson newspaper the Sunday Post since 1936. It was created by the newspaper's editor R.D. Low and drawn by cartoonist Dudley D. Watkins.
Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact Grampian Police on 0845 600 5 700 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 if you wish to remain anonymous.
