Grampian Police are appealing for witnesses after a 46-year-old man required hospital treatment following an "altercation" in Aberdeen.
The assault took place on the evening of Friday, July 6, in the area of Balgownie Drive and Balgownie Way.
The victim suffered injuries to his face and leg and was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.
Police are now keen to speak to anybody who might have information about the incident, or who were in the area between 10pm and 11pm that night and witnessed an altercation.
Detective Sergeant Gary Winter said: "Enquiries to date have established that the occupants of a silver-coloured Vauxhall Corsa motor car stopped to assist the injured male and were seen to speak to him, before driving off.
"I would like to appeal specifically to the occupants of this vehicle to get in touch, as they may hold important information, which can help us piece together the circumstances of this assault."
Anyone with information about the incident should contact Grampian Police on 0845 600 5700 or, if they wish to remain anonymous, Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
