Two crew members based at RAF Lossiemouth have been injured after their fighter jet crashed in Afghanistan.
The Ministry of Defence said the GR4 Tornado was damaged during take-off at Kandahar Airfield at 7.20am local time (2.50am GMT)
The crew from 12 Squadron, based at Lossiemouth, ejected safely but a spokeswoman said they did sustain some injuries which are currently being assessed in hospital.
She said "an investigation has been launched but the crash definitely wasn't due to enemy action."
Accident investigators are analysing damage to the aircraft.
