ABU DHABI (Reuters) - News Corp will start charging for content for its British newspapers on the Web in the next weeks or months, the head of its European and Asian operations James Murdoch said on Wednesday.
News Corp is at the forefront of a move to charge for consumer content online.
It said last year it would begin charging this spring for its UK papers, which include the Times, the Sunday Times and the Sun.
When asked on the fringes of the Abu Dhabi Media Summit whether charging for content was imminent, Murdoch told journalists: "Within the next few weeks to months."
"We think that all of our properties in one way or another have valuable copyrights. The details around what sort of models, how we develop them, how we put things together, that will all be forthcoming," he added.
