A woman caught driving while over the alcohol limit claims she did not know the jelly she was eating was laced with vodka.
Donna Forbes, 30, was charged with drink-driving when she was stopped by police after leaving a party in Inverness.
The mother-of-two insists she only drank soft drinks and only later discovered that the jelly she was eating was made with vodka.
Forbes has denied the drink-driving charge, claiming the alcohol she consumed was taken without her knowledge.
She said: “There was a finger buffet and there were several different varieties of jelly which I tried.
"If I had known at the time I would not have touched it.
"I couldn’t understand why I was over the limit. I was only drinking coke. A few days after being arrested I spoke to my friend who said there was vodka in the jelly.
"It is the only explanation I can think of. I have two children and would not knowingly drink and drive. I was shocked at the time."
She told the court she had gone to a party at the Portland Club in Inverness after finishing work on May 15 last year.
She was stopped yards from her home at Orchard Park. A police breath test revealed she had 52mcg of alcohol in 100ml of breath, above the legal limit of 35mcg.
The case has been adjourned until February 9.
