A nine-year-old girl has suffered a suspected broken leg after she was hit by a car as she walked to school in Caithness.
The schoolgirl was hit by the car as she walked to primary school in Castletown on Thursday morning.
Police and paramedics were called to Main Street in the village after the accident at around 8.20am.
The girl was taken by her family to the local doctor's surgery for treatment.
It is believed that the accident may have been caused when the car skidded on the icy road.
A Northern Constabulary spokesman said: "Police are carrying out enquiries into the incident."
