A pedestrian has been found dead at the side of a road in South Uist.
The A865 road at Ardmore is closed while police investigate the death of a 49-year-old man.
Police were called when the man's body was found at around 9.50am on Tuesday.
A Northern Constabulary spokesman said the death is being treated as "unexplained".
Inquiries into the circumstances of the pedestrian's death are ongoing and the road is expected to be closed for some time.
Police are appealing for anyone who saw a man walking in the area between late Monday afternoon and Tuesday morning to get in touch.
The stocky 5ft 7in man, with dark, greying hair, was wearing black trousers and a grey speckled woollen jumper.
