One of the star attractions at the Highland Wildlife Park has celebrated his third birthday.

Walker the polar bear was treated to a huge cake packed with his favourite foods including salmon, apples, carrots and sardines.

The 58-stone bear was also given a brand new workman's hard hat, one of his favourite playthings, at the wildlife park in Kingussie.

Walker joined the Highland Wildlife Park in November 2010, becoming only the second polar bear in a public collection in the UK.

His move was agreed as part of the European Endangered Species Programme and it is hoped he will become part of a breeding scheme at the park in the future, though he will not reach sexual maturity for another two years.

He joined the park's other polar bear Mercedes, which was put down by vets in April after suffering health problems.
